Professional Photographer Ian Rolfe specializes in creative outdoor images, concentrating mainly with travel and landscape. His love of light and his passionate approach to what that light does to the subject are evident in his work. Extensive travels in Australia, South East Asia, the Himalaya’s, United Kingdom, the Arctic Regions, Europe, Scandinavia, North America, New Zealand and much of the Pacific region, has resulted in an extensive photo library used in the travel industry and world-wide photo libraries. Getty currently stocks a very large collection of his images.
Ian started writing a column for the Photo-master magazine about eighteen years ago. Since then, he has written and published over 160 articles for various magazines and published 3 of his own photographic books. Thousands of Ian’s images are sold each year to appear in books, magazines, newspapers, travel brochures and to many commercial websites. His photographs too, have been purchased specifically by the National Library of Australia, The British Museum, The BBC, The National Park service, The ABC, SBS, Nine network, Qantas, National Geographic, Australia Post, Huawei mobile, French Geographic, Microsoft, Dulux, Fairfax media, The Victorian Government, Lonely Planet, Time magazine, The Flight Centre, Mobil Exxon and many other fine media outlets and institutions worldwide. He also conducts up to five Photographic Landscape workshops each year, often with his close friend Ewen Bell, to destinations both locally and internationally.
Ian’s Photographs have won numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and High commendations, both here in Australia and at International Salons. Ian is an associate member of the AIPP, a Grand Master of the Australian Photographic Society, has been awarded the distinction of Artiste from the International Society of Photographic art, and awarded a medal for special services to the Victorian Association of Photographic societies. Ian is currently President of the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies and is also a founding member of the Australian Photographic Judges Association.
